Improve Your Smile with Tooth-Colored Fillings

Metal-Free Dentistry - Phillips Ranch, Pomona, Chino

Dr. Glassman can replace your old metal fillings gently and comfortably.

Dr. Glassman can remove your old silver or amalgam fillings, and replace them with stronger, tooth-colored fillings.

For larger fillings, he can use a tooth-colored inlay or onlay, types of fillings that are used as a restoration of a broken-down tooth, for large cavities or to replace an existing large filling. Inlays are designed for tooth damage affecting the indented portion of the top of the tooth and onlays are for more extensive damage.

At Phillips Ranch Dental, we do not use silver fillings at all, and we have removed old silver fillings from many patients, replacing them with stronger, safer, more aesthetic tooth-colored fillings.

Call today to find out how Dr. Glassman can replace your old metal fillings gently and comfortably.

Advantages of tooth-colored fillings

Aesthetics is a big advantage over silver amalgam fillings. Additionally, as silver does not stick to teeth, healthy tooth structure is usually removed to keep a silver filling in place.

Composites permit your dentist to remove only the decayed area of your tooth. Unlike silver fillings, composite bonding expands just like your teeth and is much less likely to cause cracks in your tooth. Composites bond directly to the tooth providing support.

Finally, silver fillings contain mercury, which is highly toxic, even in small quantities.  Many people prefer to have their silver fillings replaced for that reason alone.

If you did the filling or crown first, the only choices would be 1) to match the existing shade and have the restoration appear too dark after the other teeth are whitened (porcelain and composite filling material won't whiten), or ...
